About FASEB MARC Program

The Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) Program was created by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) to increase the number of biomedical and behavioral scientists from minority groups. A key objective of the MARC Program is the encouragement, preparation and support of underrepresented minority students in the pursuit of graduate training leading to the Ph.D. degree in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.

The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) has supported the training of minority scientists for over 20 years through Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) grants that involve a variety of programs and activities including:

Travel Awards for Faculty and Students to attend FASEB societies scientific meetings and conferences

Travel Awards for Poster/Oral Presentations (Students and Postdoctoral Fellows) to attend FASEB societies scientific meetings and conferences

Travel Awards for Minority Scientists, Postdoctoral Fellows and Graduate Students to attend FASEB Summer Research Conferences

Travel/Subsistence Awards for undergraduate students to participate in Summer Research Opportunities Programs at major research institutions and universities
 

bullet

Sponsoring Grantsmanship Training Seminars and Workshops at scientific meetings, during the summer sessions, and on the campuses of minority institutions

Sponsoring Faculty/Student Career Development Seminars at Minority Institutions
 

bullet

Sponsoring career development programs and activities for minority researchers and students during the Experimental Biology and a select group of other FASEB societies' annual meetings
 

bullet

Sponsoring Postdoctorate Professional Development and Enrichment Awards for senior postdocs and new assistant professors
