The FASEB MARC Program strives to develop the best research opportunities for underrepresented minority students by providing financial support for students to visit, learn, and participate in new research techniques at prominent research laboratories and institutions during the productive summer “recess” periods. We have been able to accomplish this initiative by establishing alliances with several research universities, institutions, and laboratories with established summer research opportunity programs. Beginning in the summer of 2007, all SROP Host Mentors are also members of one or more member societies of FASEB.

Our program provides funding to supplement and/or cover the travel and subsistence (transportation, lodging, and per diem) expenses for the underrepresented minority students who have been selected to participate in summer research opportunity programs at several host universities, institutions, and laboratories. In addition, we also provide funding to support the participation of the SROP student and his/her SROP host mentor in the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students meeting and/or a FASEB Member Society Annual/Regional Meeting.

Refer to the Summer Research Opportunities Program application form or contact the FASEB MARC Program Office at marc@faseb.org for more information.
