ASHG 2009 Minority Travel Awards
(Application Deadline: September 3, 2009)
The FASEB Office of MARC and Professional Development Programs, in
partnership with The American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG), is offering travel awards to help support ASHG 2009 Annual Meeting participation for junior faculty (assistant professors,) postdoctoral fellows and students from minority institutions and historically black colleges and universities. Underrepresented minority junior faculty (assistant professors,) students and postdoctoral fellows from majority institutions are also eligible to apply for the travel awards.
Eligibility: Applicants must be members of ASHG and can apply for membership online before or after submitting a travel award application. Applicants must submit an abstract to the ASHG 2009 Annual Meeting in accordance with the rules and regulations for submitting abstracts. Applicants must also submit a brief paragraph explaining their research area, professional goals, and need for this award. Travel award applications will be due September 3, 2009.
This travel award program is supported by a U.S.A. Federal training grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, National Institutes of Health (FASEB MARC Program: T36-GM08059-26.) Therefore, only U.S.A. citizens and Permanent Resident Aliens of the U.S.A. are eligible to apply. In addition, applicants must reside within the U.S.A. or U.S.A. territories. Permanent residents must provide proof of a valid green card.
Award: The travel awards are funded up to $2,500 each for travel-related expenses and meeting registration. Travel awards are provided as reimbursements after the meeting.
