Program Description

The University of Oregon (UO) Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) offers fellowship opportunities for undergraduat students from other universities to participate in ongoing research in Life Sciences laboratories at UO during the summer months. Students from the UO also participate in SPUR activities funded by host laboratories.

Program Dates: We keep the participation dates flexible to accomodate the variety of schedules of schools across the country. Most SPUR Fellows are here from the 2nd or 3rd week in August; however, we allow a great deal of variation in the participation dates. Despite this variation, SPUR participants have always developed close bonds. More about program dates in FAQs.

We currently support students interested in doing research in the following cross-disciplinary areas:

Evolution
Developmental Biology
Genomics
Structural Biology & Biophysics
Molecular Biology
Bioinformatics
Genetics
Cell Biology
Neuroscience
Ecology
Marine Biology
Computational Biology
Biochemistry
Bioorganic Chemistry
Neurobiology & Physiology
Psychology
Exercise and Movement Science
Human Physiology
Cognitive Neuroscience
